in Kotor was held today at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, with a special focus on the accommodation and dining capacities and conditions at the “Spasić-Mašera” Student and Pupils’ Dormitory in Dobrota.

Participants in the panel included the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the University of Montenegro, Milivoje Radović, PhD, the Director of the Dormitory, Mrs. Biljana Radević, the President of the Student Organization of the “Spasić-Mašera” Dormitory, Tea Bojanović, and the student representative of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, Andrija Ćalasan. The panel was moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, Tatijana Dlabač, PhD, and was attended by staff and students of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor and the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management.

The Dormitory Director, Mrs. Radević, presented history and capacities of the Student and Pupils’ Dormitory in Dobrota, its current conditions, completed and ongoing projects related to infrastructure improvement, as well as numerous challenges the management has been facing for years regarding the maintenance and renovation of the institution’s facilities.

Student representatives welcomed the initiative of the leadership of the University of Montenegro and the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor to improve student standards, as well as the expression of goodwill to work together on these improvements. In this regard, the Chairman of the University Steering Committee, Professor Radović, in direct interaction with the attending students, raised the issue of the quality of food and accommodation in the Dormitory. He offered his full personal and institutional support for a student initiative to be addressed to the Ministry, which would directly concern the improvement of food quality in the Dormitory—an issue that the students unanimously highlighted as a priority.

It was also concluded that joint efforts should be made to initiate more urgent maintenance work on part of the accommodation facilities, while also planning for larger projects to reconstruct the infrastructure of the entire building.

Both speakers and participants at the panel agreed that the “Spasić – Mašera” Student and Pupils’ Dormitory may and should become a representative institution for student accommodation, which could also serve a much broader purpose, benefiting not only the university units in Kotor, but also the wider university, academic, and social community.

All participants expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to Professor Radović for his visit to the Kotor faculties, to the Dormitory itself, and for his goodwill and enthusiasm to work jointly and effectively on improving student standards, as well as addressing all other matters of importance to our academic community.
