Martin Ćalasan, PhD – First Scientist from the University of Montenegro with Patent Recognised in the USA

Martin Ćalasan, PhD, from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Montenegro, is one of the authors of the patent officially recognised by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This achievement has made him the first scientist from the University of Montenegro with acknowledged patent in the United States of America. Patent, named "Methods and Systems for Operating Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage Devices", is developed in cooperation with renowned researchers from multiple international institutions.

Next to Professora Ćalasan, authors are:

·         Ahmed Zobaa, PhD, (Brunel University, UK)

·         Shady Abdel Aleem, PhD, (Egyptian Aviation Academy, Egypt)

·         Hany Hasanien, PhD, (Ain Shams University, Egypt)

·         Ziad Elhalwany, PhD, (Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia)

·         Mujahed Al-Dhaifallah, PhD, (King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia)

This innovation brings advanced methods and systems for optimisation of work of superconductive magnet devices for energy storage which may have a wide application in modern electric magnetic systems and industrial applications.

Research by prof. Ćalasan and his associates confirms importance of international science cooperation and contributes to positioning Montenegrin science on a global map of innovations. This achievement also opens the door for future projects and potential implementation of this technology in industry.
