The Faculty of Electrical Engineering Got Two Projects from Innovations Fund of Montenegro

Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Montenegro, Budimir Lutovac, PhD, signed funding agreements for projects awarded by the Innovation Fund of Montenegro, together with the Fund’s Executive Director, Dr. Bojana Femić Radosavović. The agreements cover two projects: one focused on implementing educational programs in the fields of smart specialization and another aimed at fostering an innovation culture. Both projects are led by Milena Đukanović, PhD, with a total budget of 18,000 euros.

The first project, a six-month educational program titled “Game for All: Smart, Sustainable, Inclusive – IGRA+,” aims to organize, during the first three months, twelve lectures and twelve workshops for thirty students. The topics will cover 3D modelling, 3D printing, recycling, inclusive education, toy design, marketing, communication strategies, inclusion of people with disabilities, and other related areas.

In addition to two-hour lectures, students will be divided into two groups and will learn 3D modelling using Fusion 360 software. After completing their final toy designs, they will be able to print them using a multi-head 3D printer, enabling the production of multi-coloured toys. Inspiration for their designs will be drawn through collaboration with the Institute for Education and the Library for the Blind, whose experts will help create guidelines for inclusive toys.

Students will design and produce 3D-printed didactic toys adapted for children with reduced motor skills, visual impairments, autism, and other developmental challenges. The toys will be made using recyclable materials to promote sustainability.

In March 2026, an exhibition of students’ 3D-printed toys will be organized at the University of Montenegro’s exhibition space, featuring photographs of both the 3D models and the final printed pieces. The project aims to foster empathy, creativity, and interdisciplinary approaches among young people, while promoting sustainability and technological literacy within the framework of socially responsible design.

The second six-month project, aimed at encouraging an innovation culture, is titled “3D Food Printing Inspired by Art – 3DHranaUm.” Its goal is to create a publication showcasing the artworks of ten contemporary Montenegrin female artists, uniquely presented “on a plate” using a 3D food printer.

Additionally, workshops on 3D food printing will be held in Podgorica, Pljevlja, and Herceg Novi, featuring dishes inspired by traditional Montenegrin recipes and prepared using locally sourced ecological ingredients. An exhibition of photographs of these dishes, along with the launch of the publication, is scheduled for March 2026.
