Announcement: Guest Lecture and Workshop "Port State Control Survey"

We are pleased to announce that on Monday, 14 October, and Tuesday, 15 October 2024, two distinguished maritime experts—retired U.S. Coast Guard Commander Bob Acker and Master Mariner Goran Jablan (Oceans-Unlimited Tonnage)—will deliver a lecture and workshop titled "Port State Control Survey" at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor.

Monday, 14 October 2024:

The lecture, open to anyone interested, will be held in the amphitheatre of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor at 9:00 AM.

Tuesday, 15 October 2024:

A specialized workshop for active seafarers from Montenegro will take place in the Engine Room Simulator at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor at 8:30 AM. Please note that workshop attendance is limited, and timely registration is required via email: vukicevic.miroslav@gmail.com.

 

The lecture will cover key topics related to Port State and Flag State powers and responsibilities, the inspection process, and crew and vessel preparation for compliance testing. In addition, effective communication with inspectors and regulatory bodies during inspections of merchant ships will also be discussed. Expectations, consequences and preparations for the successful completion of the control process will also be analyzed.

This event is organized by the Alumni Club of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, University of Montenegro, and hosted by the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor.
