Basic Information

The primary goal of the national project “Decarbonisation in the Maritime Sector for a Green Boka Bay – DeMS-GBB” is to achieve sustainable maritime transport and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Boka Bay area. To this end, concrete recommendations for improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions, primarily through economic incentives for the implementation of "green systems" on vessels, will be provided through the project.

Through an analysis of the performance and design of vessels operated by partner institutions, the project will offer recommendations and proposals for new vessel designs, thereby enhancing cooperation with the maritime industry.

At the same time, starting from the existing regulations set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Unions recommendations on decarbonising the maritime sector, the project will analyse the current state of affairs in Montenegro and provide recommendations for the creation of new, legally grounded solutions. Throughout the project, educational activities will be organised with the main aim of raising awareness about the importance of maritime decarbonisation and preserving the Boka Bay environment.
