Academic network UMNE is one of the largest WAN networks in Montenegro providing private and public services for over 2.000 beneficiaries.  

The UMNE academic network is one of the largest WAN networks in Montenegro that provides private and public services for over 20.000 beneficiaries. About 3.000 computers are permanently connected to the network and are used for teaching, scientific and administrative purposes. The activity of CIS includes all activities related to planning and management of the information system, its design and implementation, computer network and software services of common interest to the University and its members. The Academic Network of UMNE is a full member of the European Association of Academic Networks (TERENA) under the name MREN (Montenegro Research and Education Network). In August 2015, the National Internet Exchange Point (Montenegro Internet Exchange Point - MIXP) started working in CIS. The UMNE Information System Center designed, implemented and configured the first IXP in Montenegro.

Information system of the University of Montenegro, based on academic network, integrates all ICT requirements of the University and its units, and organization is adapted to state of the art concept of information systems, which should ensure a unique development and maintenance of the system.
