Biotechnical Faculty Day celebrated – promoting knowledge and scientific excellence

At the Biotechnical Faculty Day celebration, attendees included representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, deans and vice-deans from other faculties of the University of Montenegro, the Food Safety Administration, as well as representatives from various business entities.

In her opening remarks, Dean Prof. Dr. Božidarka Marković greeted those present, highlighting the most significant segments of the facultys development and activities, its role in agriculture advancement, and its intensive cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, which provided a prize fund of EUR 9,000 for 30 students who had achieved the best results in the previous year. She then discussed the most notable scientific research activities of the past year, emphasizing newly acquired projects.

Marica Melović, the General Director of the Directorate for Scientific Research Activity at the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, spoke about the role of the Biotechnical Faculty in promoting scientific research and academic progress. She emphasized that events like this highlight the importance of knowledge, innovation, and collaboration in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and related disciplines, and provide an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of unity within the academic and scientific community.

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Mr. Vladimir Joković, in his address, congratulated the awarded students and stressed the importance of collaboration between the academic community and the government: “Through joint efforts and dialogue, we can identify best practices, develop innovative solutions, and enhance our agricultural processes. The Ministry recognizes the critical role you play in educating future experts as the driving force of modern society. We are ready to support the faculty in every way. With your expertise and our support, I believe we can achieve outstanding results. We aim to create an environment where innovation is rewarded, and talent is valued.”

The awards to the best undergraduate and masters students were presented by Minister Vladimir Joković, and on behalf of the awarded students, Amina Dautović expressed gratitude, stating that agricultural engineers have the privilege of working in food production and added: “In this regard, I thank the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the Biotechnical Faculty for their ongoing support of our education. Indeed, this award ceremony is proof of commitment and an additional motivation on our path to gaining education in agricultural sciences. I assure you that we will use the knowledge and experiences gained at this faculty to help Montenegrin agriculture. We will strive to elevate our agricultural production to a higher level, capitalize on the abundant agricultural potentials that Montenegro has, and be the generation of transition.”

Following the formal part, the event continued with presentations of newly acquired projects (international and national), presentations of student work and experiences from student mobility, as well as presentations of activities from the Alumni Club of the Biotechnical Faculty.
