Opis : Kolorektalni adenokarcinom (CAC) i Alzheimerova demencija (AD) se najčešće javljaju kod starije populacije, što je jedan od uzroka porasta njihove incidence. Naučni dokazi pokazuju da se ove dve hronične bolesti obično ne javljaju zajedno kod iste osobe - kod ljudi obolelih od karcinoma, učestalost AD je vrlo mala, i obrnuto. Ovo sugeriše da su kod ove dve bolesti zajednički ćelijski signalni putevi deregulisani u suprotnom smeru, ali tačan osnovni mehanizam još uvek nije jasan. Projekat će proučavati upotrebu novih metoda za stratifikaciju pacijenata sa CAC i AD prema riziku za progresiju ovih bolesti.


Colorectal adenocarcinoma (CAC) and Alzheimer’s dementia (AD) most often occur in the elderly population, which is one of the causes of the rise in their incidence. Scientific evidence shows that these two chronic diseases usually do not occur together in the same individual – in people with cancer, the incidence of AD is very low, and vice versa. This suggests that the common cell signalling pathways are deregulated in the opposite direction in these two diseases, but the exact underlying mechanism is still unclear. The project will study the use of new methods for stratification of patients with CAC and AD according to the risk for progression of these diseases.
