After passing the exam, the student will be able to: - define the essential features and general tendencies of sustainable development, -differentiate methods and techniques of prevention of emissions into the environment and new technologies in environmental protection, -explain the principle of best available technology (BAT) and to use of the BREF documents, -evaluate possible savings in raw materials, water and energy at the beginning of the product's life cycle, - calculate the material and energy balance on a concrete example, -propose cleaner production options in some industrial processes.
