Faculty of Fine Arts UoM Partner in Developing a Joint Master’s Program in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage

The Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Montenegro has become a partner in developing the international master’s program Conservation and Restoration Sciences – CORES, within the ULYSSEUS network of European universities. The program brings together six prestigious universities, with the University of Genoa as the coordinator.

In addition to UCG, participating institutions include the University Bordeaux Montaigne (France), the University of Seville (Spain), the University Côte d’Azur (France), and the University of Münster (Germany). The project has been accredited by the European Commission through the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures. The official launch was marked by a working meeting in Genoa in January 2025, where UoM was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maja Šofranac and Prof. Nataša Đurović. During the meeting, the project logo was selected, with the winning design created by Sandra Đurović, a teaching associate at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje.

The accreditation process for the program is currently underway, with the goal of completion by February 2026. Students will have the opportunity to study at three academic locations—Genoa, Seville, and Bordeaux—attending courses, workshops, seminars, and research studies. They will be able to develop their master’s thesis at partner universities and research institutions.

The main goal of the CORES program is to create an integrated, transnational, and high-quality education for conservation professionals. The program will equip students with multidisciplinary skills across scientific, technological, and humanities fields, preparing them to preserve cultural heritage and raise awareness of its significance.
