Meeting on the establishment of the alumni structure of the University of Montenegro with representatives of organizational units

Meeting with representatives of organizational units, i.e. alumni clubs of the University of Montenegro, was held at the Rectors Office, 18 March 2024. years. The aim of the event was to establish clear guidelines for the establishment and development of the alumni structure, while the recently adopted Alumni strategy of the University of Montenegro was presented to the attendees, as well as the online platform of the alumni community of our university.

The meeting started with the opening address of the vice-rector for international cooperation, prof. Sanja Peković, PhD. emphasizing the importance of long-term relations between the University of Montenegro and its graduate students. The role of the alumni network in promoting the institution, supporting current students, and opening new business and professional opportunities for graduates was highlighted.

The presentation of the Alumni strategy of the University of Montenegro was held by Filip Petrović, M.Sc., project associate. The strategy is a crucial document that defines the directions for the development of the UCG alumni structure in the period from 2024-2029, and the action plan clearly shows the activities and indicators for monitoring success.

All the benefits of the online platform of the alumni community were presented to the attendees by Srna Sudar, PhD. head of the UCG Project Office. The online platform is a powerful tool not only for collecting the necessary data and keeping records on alumni, but also serves for their networking and the realization of various types of cooperation, from which the University of Montenegro and the entire society can benefit, considering the fact that since the establishment of the University, to date, the number of graduate students at the University of Montenegro is almost 90,000.

The meeting was followed by a discussion on the legal framework of the alumni clubs themselves, and in addition, the attendees exchanged their experiences and ideas on the best ways to engage graduate students, i.e. alumni. Key areas that need to be worked on in order to establish a sustainable and efficient alumni structure have been identified, such as the need for regular communication, initiatives to hold various events, and even the organization of donor and philanthropic events. At the end of the meeting, concrete actions and deadlines for the implementation of the proposed initiatives were agreed upon.

This meeting represents an important step towards building a sustainable and dynamic alumni structure of the University of Montenegro, which will continuously contribute to the development of the institution and support to its members, as well as students and the wider community.
