High rating from the European Commission for progress in science and innovation

"The European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Oliver Varhelyi, presented the Enlargement Package for 2023, including the annual reports of the European Commission, at the session of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament on November 8.

In the Report of the European Commission on Montenegro for 2023, in the part related to the Negotiating Chapter 25 Science and Research, with a good level of preparation, good progress was made in relation to the recommendations given in 2022 Report. The efforts undertaken by Montenegro at the national level, which are particularly highlighted in the Report, refer to the Governments budget allocations for research and innovation this year, the successful implementation of the Smart Specialization Strategy and the increase in the participation of Montenegrin institutions in the Horizon Europe program. The Report emphasizes the good cooperation of Montenegro with the European Innovation Council, as well as the program lines of support for the development of innovations implemented by the Innovation Fund. The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation will continue in the coming period with the implementation of the Smart Specialization Strategy, strengthening cooperation between the academic and economic sectors, and intensifying activities with the aim of adopting a new strategy for scientific research activities," it was stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Educatio.

The Commissions report points to the hope that future efforts in further strengthening the infrastructure, increasing capacity and a systematic approach to the withdrawal of EU funds will enable continued successful progress in the implementation of obligations from Chapter 25. Such progress and initiative create the basis for improving efficiency and achieving goals, which encourages further development and integration into European structures.
