A meeting was held today at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro, at which an Agreement on Cooperation was signed between the Faculty of Law of Montenegro and the Office for European Integration of the Government of Montenegro.

The agreement was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, full prof. Aneta Spaić, PhD and the Chief Negotiator of Montenegro with the EU, Zorka Kordić, and it seeks to create conditions for long-term cooperation in order to create lasting and stable support to the state of Montenegro to analyze regulations prepared and adopted in a timely and quality manner. To the European Union, and as a member state to transpose them into national law within the given deadlines.

Negotiator Kordić pointed out that the signed Agreement will aim to help Montenegro achieve a continuous, timely and quality analysis of regulations being prepared and adopted in the European Union, in order to transpose them in a quality manner as a candidate, and then as a member state. into national law.

“I am convinced that the more intensive format of cooperation regulated by the Agreement will contribute to the overall quality of legal solutions, and thus to the accession process as a whole. More intensive cooperation will contribute to a better synergy of the expert and executive aspects of the process, but also to the cohesion and better communication of the process between its actors and the public in Montenegro", said Kordić.

Dean Spaić expressed special satisfaction with the fact that the Agreement on Cooperation was signed, and noted that it represents only the beginning of joint cooperation. She added that the Agreement sets out very precisely and clearly the goals on which further joint activities will be carried out in order to provide mutual assistance on the path to fulfilling the conditions for EU membership and membership.

After the meeting, a panel discussion was held, which was attended by students and academic staff of the faculty, and which discussed the current course of the negotiation process and the challenges that await Montenegro, both in gaining membership and fulfilling the obligations that follow.

The activity was organized within the project MLEUIM - Jean Monnet Module in Law of the EU Internal Market, which the Faculty of Law has been implementing since this academic year, and which is supported within the Jean Monnet Program, under the Erasmus + program of the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual Arts and culture (EACEA). The project will last for three years.

Module project leader, vice dean for international cooperation at the Faculty of Law, full prof. Vladimir Savković, PhD, added that this is an extremely important project that seeks to build a legal staff that will carry the integration process tomorrow and represent significant expert and professional support.
