Anthropometric Testing of Football Players in Mostar and Široki Brijeg

Professors of the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro, Prof Duško Bjelica, Jovan Gardašević, MA,  Ivan Vasiljević MA, and Marija Bubanja, in cooperation with Prof. Marin ĆorlukA from Mostar, on 3rd and 4th July, 2017, performed anthropometric measurements in Široki Brijeg and Mostar.

On the first day, measurements of the football players of football club Široki Brijeg, the current winner of the Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were performed. Footballers were tested before the trip and the revanche match of the first round of qualifications for the Europa League against Kazakhstan's Ordabasi. Measurement was attended by 22 players, who were measured on the innovative instrument Tanita scale and who had insight into the percentage of subcutaneous and visceral fat, the percentage of muscle and bone mass, as well as metabolic parameters. In addition to the mentioned parameters, footballers and professional staff are also informed about the values of skin folds on certain body segments.

A day later, on 4th July, an anthropometric measurement of football players of the CSC Zrinjski was carried out, which defended the title of the best club in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The expert staff headed by the coach, Blažo Slišković, was pleased to cede the time and players, who are preparing for the second round of qualifications for the Champions League and the match against Slovenia's Maribor. The mentioned purposeful measurement was performed with 28 players, and the expert staff got all information on the anthropometric parameters.

In this way, the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education has continued with the expansion of the elite athletes result bases outside the borders of Montenegro, and from the faculty they emphasize the great satisfaction with the performed measurements and results and they will continue to expand the result bases in different destinations and in the summer months because Diagnostics in sports is for all those who recognize the need to take a look at the current physical state in a modern, well-designed and verified way, based on which they can plan future steps and represents an essential part of the process of planning, control and realization of the training process.
