Reformation of Foreign Languages through the Project REFLAME will meet the Needs of Students with Sight and Hearing Damage  

Project worth for more than half million euros (595.536 euros), implemented by the Faculty of Philology of the University of Montenegro together with partner universities in Montenegro and European Union will improve overall 150 curricula and foreign languages programs, with 120 on the University of Montenegro.  

Project is financed within Erasmus plus program for capacity building in higher education (Erasmus+: International Capacity Building in Higher Education), named Reforming Foreign Languages in Academia in Montenegro- REFLAME

Project team has already conducted a wide study of the current situation in teaching of foreign languages in higher education in Montenegro.   

"Study has included about 2000 examinees from the line of students, university teachers and employers in Montenegro and academic and wider public will be soon informed about. We also in cooperation with EU partners ended analyses of syllabus for 181 subject of foreign language in three Montenegrin universities”, Project Manager Milica Vukovic-Stamatovic explains. According to her words as response to increasing need for young people in all field know foreign languages as many as possible, the main aim of the project is capacity building and international and joint cooperation of Montenegrin universities in terms of modern and market oriented teaching of foreign languages in host faculties as well as strengthening the teaching of second foreign language in all faculties.  

Partners in the project are University Mediterranean and University Donja Gorica as well as three EU universities – University for foreigners in Perugia, University in Warsaw and University in Zagreb to give expert support in the field of language teaching in higher education. Affiliated partner in the project is the Ministry of Education of Montenegro. Implementation started in November 2019 and the project lifetime is three years

"Since one of partner universities has experts that work on foreign language teaching for persons with hearing and sight damage the project will train teachers for such teaching. The Project will provide the state of the art tests for level of foreign knowledge efficiency” – Vukovic – Stamatovic says.

Experts from three partner universities will train teaching staff from the Faculty of Philology and summer school will be organized as well as international conference from the field of language.  

In the project new curricula will be designed, or books will be created for lectures that are not from master faculty of foreign languages. There will also be study visits of exerts from partner universities and study visits of teachers from the Faculty of Philology to partner institutions.

Great number of funds is intended for increase of library fund of the Faculty of Philology that will be composed of the contemporary books of the master language or methodology of foreign languages.
