Presentation of project ideas at the University of Montenegro in the field of circular economy

As part of the Circular Economy Skills EnhAnCEment NeTwOrk - CRESCENTO project, the CRESCENTO Summer School on Circular Economy was organized in Podgorica in the University Sports and Cultural Center. The lectures are held on August 31, 2023, and September 1, 2023, by professors from the University of Montenegro: Prof. Veselinka Grudić, Prof. Vanja Asanović, Prof. Milica Muhadinović and Prof. Martin Ćalasan and Dr Athanasios P. Kalogeras from the Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communications and Knowledge Technologies (Greece) and MSc Jovana Popović, an associate from the University of Donja Gorica. The students had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges and possibilities of moving from the linear to the circular economy model, the design principles that support the circular economy, why efficient waste management is the basis for the implementation of the circular economy model, about the circular economy in smart cities, the circular economy and production processes, as well as the circular economy in the energy sector. Two workshops were also organized: Methodological Approach to CE Project Development, from Idea to Project Set-up and Brainstorming on CE challenges, led by Anđela Nikčević from Technopolis.

The students will present their project ideas on September 12, 2023, in the University Sports and Cultural Center starting at 12:00, which they prepared in coordination with their mentors, Prof. Biljana Damjanović Vratnica, Prof. Milica Muhadinović, Prof. Martin Ćalasan, Dr Jana Mišurović, and MSc Jovana Popović. 

The CRESCENTO summer school is organized according to the same program in all partner institutions. As part of the CRESCENTO project, establishing the Adriatic-Ionian network for the circular economy is planned, aimed mainly at academic and research institutions, as well as entrepreneurship support organizations to define and implement activities in the domain of the circular economy. The consortium consists of higher education institutions from four European Union countries: Politechnico di Milano (Italy), Faculty of Metallurgy - University of Zagreb (Croatia), Aegean University (Greece) and University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia), higher education institutions from four candidate countries: Faculty of Engineering - University of Kragujevac (Serbia), Aleksandar Moisiu University in Durrës (Albania), University of East Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology of the University of Montenegro (Montenegro), as well as research and business partners: National Confederation of the Craftmanship and Small and Medium Enterprises, Abruzzo (Italy), Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communications and Knowledge Technologies (Greece) and European Public Law Organization (Greece).
