In the Modern Gallery (PI Museums and Galleries Podgorica), the exhibition of the students of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Montenegro called Project of the Year was opened on November 22, 2022, and will be open until November 29. The exhibition is part of the program activities, on the occasion of the two-decade jubilee since the establishment of the Architecture Study Program, and the idea of ​​establishing an award for the best project of the year was initiated by the Dean Svetlana Perović, PhD. At the exhibition, 62 student projects were presented, in three categories, previously selected by subject teachers, which are the product of work in the previous academic year 2021/22. In order to distance ourselves as a teaching team and allow others to evaluate our joint performance from the outside, we invited an international, interdisciplinary jury for each category individually.

Thus, for the Architectural design category, among 33 entries, the jury was composed of: professor emeritus Branislav Mitrović, from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Belgrade, in the role of a president, Dr. Jelena Atanacković Jeličić, full professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, department of architecture and urban planning, as well as Mr. Novica Mitrović, president of the Professional Chamber of Architects of IKCG.

The second category, called Urban Planning and Design, out of 15 selected projects, was evaluated by a jury composed of: dr. Alenka Fikfak, full professor and head of the Department of Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, Dr. Darko Reba, full professor from the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad and architect Ksenija Vukmanović.

Third category refers to the category we called Visual Communications and Technologies, where the 14 works were evaluated by a team consisting of: Ana Matić, full professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, Petar Mirković, Ph.D., Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad and Srđa Dragović, graphic designer and illustrator.

The jury had a very difficult task, bearing in mind the wide range of topics that students deal with from the first to the fifth year, which resulted in them running for two awards from each category, as candidates for this years Project of the Year award.

In the first category, Architectural Design, the unanimous recognition of the jury went to the project Sports Center "Banja Luka", authored by Edin Alihodžić, within the course Architectural Design VI, under the mentorship of Slavica Stamatović Vučković, PhD and Prof. Rifat Alihodžić, Ph.D., and in cooperation with Gordana Rovčanin Premović, Ph.D., a teaching assistant.

Another project that earned the jurys attention in this category is the Health Center project, a student of Sara Tomić and Elena Simović, as part of Architectural design 5 - health facilities, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Dragan Komatina and collaborators, Assoc. Ph.D. Ema Alihodžić Jašarović, and MSc Nemanja Milićević.

In the Urban Planning and Design Category, the jurys recognition went to the Eco village project in Spuz, the authors team consisting of Nikolina Cvijović and Dejana Zindović, in the subject Urban Planning 1, mentored by Svetlana Perović, PhD and associate Dr. Nevena Mašanović.

Second award in this category was awarded to the project Lake Skadar and its spatial and architectural potential, by the author team: Žaklina Laketić, Minja Josipović, Mirković Milica, Ivana Smolović, under the mentorship of: Prof. Svetislav G. Popović, Ph.D., and teaching assistants: Jelena Bajić Šestović, Ph.D., Sanja Savić, Ph.D., Nevena Mašanović, Ph.D.

In the third category of Visual Communication and Technology, final year student Vladimir Fatić was awarded for the project PLAYGROUND - Call of the Wild, in the course Architectural workshop, under the mentorship of Ema Alihodžić Jašarović, Ph.D., and associate Nemanja Milićević, MSc.

The second award in this category goes to the group work on the subject of Architectural graphics, authored by the duo Bojana Tomašević and Maša Radović, with the theme "Graphic identity of the city", under the mentorship of Associate Professor Ema Alihodžić Jašarović.

Presidents of the jury from each category explained their decisions, whereby Prof. Ana Matić presented opinion of the jury for third category in front of the audience, while Prof. Alenka Fikfak had a video input from Ljubljana. Prof. Branislav Mitrović also spoke via video message and in front of all the members of the jury, as president, explained the choice of the project that was declared the best for the previous year 2021/22.

Recognition and the Project of the Year award, as well as a monetary award to the awarded students, were awarded by the Dean Svetlana Perović, PhD, who previously spoke about importance of this award for quality of the school and for its visibility. She also awarded certificates of gratitude to organization team of the exhibition, to students: Sara Tomić, Elena Simović, Momčil Hadžiristić and Vladimir Fatić, as well as to her colleague Ema Alihodžić Jašarović, Ph.D., who moderated last nights opening of the exhibition. 

Exhibit will be open until 29.11. 2022
