59 years of the establishment of the Faculty of Economics celebrated

Promotion of the best Students to the best Employers- after Graduation Job with starting Salary of 1.000 euros in Voli Company

59 years of establishment was celebrated at the Faculty of Economic today. In the presence of numerous number of guests, representatives of the Government of Montenegro, representatives of diplomatic corps, the University of Montenegro and successful businessmen, the best students were awarded, which was 25 this year.

Nikola Milovic, PhD, the Dean, pointed out that May 31st is very special day for all of us and it evokes strong memories on previous generations of teachers, associates and students and on their excellent achievements: ‘’ People who built the reputation of this institution in the last 59 years. Those who should be and who are our idols and whose works are the motivation to the future generations. I am sure that we all will agree that the Faculty of Economics has a special value for Montenegro and importance as the source from which they originated the ideas and core of Montenegrin economic thought almost 6 decades. All our efforts we invest to keep it that way’’, he said.

Celebration of the Faculty Day was also a chance to remember what was done in the previous period in order to improve the position of the Faculty of Economics in the educational system of Montenegro: ‘’ With the support of the University administration and high-quality work we succeeded in the goal that we set together - to stabilize the functioning of the Faculty and to improve all aspects of his work - working conditions and studying, teaching process, scientific research work and international cooperation. The most important challenge for us in the future will be the achievement of higher standards in all areas of work - because of this we have started the international EPAS accreditation by which we want to enter the selected society of the best Faculties of Economics in the world’’, Milovic emphasized.  

 

He emphasized with particular satisfaction that we have in the history of the Faculty of Economics, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Montenegro, the first visit of Finn E. Kydland Norwegian professor, the Nobel Prize winner in Economics, and with great care and interest participated at his lecture titled "Economic policy and growth of nations". He also recalled that significant steps towards connecting with international partners in order to better position on the world map of the educational institutions made in accordance with one of the strategic objectives of the Faculty of Economics. The Cooperation Agreement with the Hungarian Corvinus University was signed then, based in Budapest, which is an important chapter in the dynamic scientific cooperation between the two educational institutions, but also the state of Montenegro and Hungary.

In addition to numerous connections at the international level, he has not neglected the strengthening of ties with representatives of local economy: "We believe that strong links between business sector and higher education are vital. Therefore, successful local companies are becoming more involved in the process of education and professional training, which has positive effects on both sides and leads to long-term partnership" the Dean of the Faculty of Economics said to the present guests: ‘’ The evidence of just mentioned is a partnership with one of the most successful domestic companies, Voli trade, patron of today’s award ceremony to the best students. 25 students who achieved the best success will be, besides the money award given by the Faculty of Economics, furthermore rewarded from this company. In addition to this, our cooperation will continue in a number of directions, but only one of them is a professional practice while studying and the opportunity for employment after graduation", Milovic said.

Dragan Bokan, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Voli Trade, described the beginning and development of its private business at a time that was not favorable for entrepreneurs, motivating them to improve their skills and work habits from the very first day to the presented students. He pointed out that the company, in addition to money prizes, which has donated 25 students, will offer employment for a period of six months with a salary of up to 1,000 euros!

 

Dean Milovic told the guests on the occasion of awarding the best students of the academic studies of Economy and Applied Management studies: ‘’We do not educate the personnel for Bureau at the Faculty, but for labor market! The fact we are proud of it is that our students find very quickly jobs after the graduation, and that is evident he satisfaction of employers. This encourages us to continue with constant improvement and modernization of educational content in order to hold the leading position in the education of economists’’.   

Nikola Radanovic addressed the audience in the name of the best students who thanked the Faculty of Economics for fostering the beautiful tradition of rewarding the best students for easier employment after graduation. He thanked in the name of all students and the Company Voli for the opportunity to start their career in that company with excellent conditions.

Dean Nikola Milovic announced to the audience that the Faculty of Economics will show hospitality to the world known theorist of the international political economy the next month, Yoshihiro Francis Fukuyama, the man who announced the introduction in his new paradigm of global political order in the form of short political essay, immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall. 

Damir Sehovic, the Minister of Education, Nikola Janovic, the Minister of Sport, Dusko Bjelica, PhD, the Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the University of Montenegro, Vujica Lazovic, PhD, Ambassador of Montenegro in Slovenia, Radoje Zugic, PhD, the Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro and other representatives of the state institutions and economic sector attended the ceremony on the occasion of celebration of 59 years since the establishment of the Faculty of Economics.
