Young people are the strength of society, and their education and employment are crucial for our future. That is precisely why high school graduates and students today have the opportunity to get acquainted with the faculty programs of the University of Montenegro (UCG) and apply for over two thousand positions for seasonal jobs.

This was announced on the occasion of the University of Montenegros Open Doors Day and the Seasonal Employment Fair - Summer job 2024, organized by the UCG Career Development and Lifelong Learning Office in cooperation with the UCG Student Parliament.

The UCG Vice-Rector for Education, Veselin Mićanović, emphasized that the Open Doors Day is a confirmation of the University of Montenegros openness towards the wider social community, primarily to high school graduates of both general and vocational education.

“This day is of special significance for the University of Montenegro and for you, dear graduates. This is an opportunity to get a closer look at 19 organizational units and 66 available study programs at UCG, which will be your future choice. Choosing the University of Montenegro is one of the best and safest choices, because studying at the University of Montenegro and being an academic citizen is something that ensures a secure future,” Mićanović said.

The Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation, Anđela Jakšić - Stojanović, told the youth that she is confident they will seize all the opportunities presented to them, achieve their professional, academic, and personal goals, and thereby make the country a better and more beautiful place to live.

“In the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation, you will always have support for the realization of these and similar initiatives so that we can work together on improving the quality of the educational process and strive to create an outstanding educational system that you deserve,” is the message from Jakšić-Stojanović.

The President of the UCG Student Parliament, Andrej Vukčević, stated that the Seasonal Employment Fair in Podgorica is offering positions from 93 employers, accounting for over two thousand open spots.

“For all young people, this is a great opportunity to present themselves in the best light and choose a seasonal job in line with their affinities and aspirations. The benefits of seasonal employment are numerous. It provides high school graduates and students the chance to gain new knowledge and skills, serves as a recommendation for further professional engagement, and also offers the opportunity to earn their own spending money. Employers, on the other hand, benefit from simpler procedures for hiring labor and stimulative measures from the state for engaging local capacities,” explained Vukčević.

By the time of this year’s Fair, he mentioned, over 10,000 young people, primarily high school graduates and students, had gained their first work experience.

“This number is proof that the Seasonal Employment Fair - Summer job is recognized as the biggest event of its kind in our area, and it could even be envied by institutions with stronger capacities,” said Vukčević.

The head of the Career Development and Lifelong Learning Center, Ivica Todorović, confirmed that this years Fair features more employers and offers more jobs than ever before.

“The competent authorities play a crucial role in creating an environment that supports the development of young people and their integration into the world of work and education. This requires active listening, quick responses, and effective action aimed at creating opportunities and removing barriers that young people may encounter on their path,” Todorović believes.

Young people are the strength of the nation, and their education and employment are, as he stated, of vital importance for our future.

“Through this Fair, we want you to explore opportunities for seasonal employment, but also to learn about the importance of continuous learning and improvement. Our community grows and develops through the engagement of young people. Your success is not just your own, but also ours—the community that supports you and believes in your potential,” Todorović conveyed.

The Open Doors Day is being held at the University Sports and Cultural Center in Podgorica and will last until 4 p.m., while the Summer Job will continue tomorrow at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management in Kotor, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
