Student Ajla Šukurica about her scientific idol for Uliseus

Ajla Šukurica, a student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, studying Mathematics and Computer Science, shared her motivation for choosing the field she is studying, along with her scientific role model and the challenges she faces.

She provided a statement for the European University Association Ulises, marking February 11 - International Day of Women and Girls in Science, through interviews with female students from various STEM disciplines, hailing from member countries. Šukarica emphasized her passion for mathematics and computer science.

"Since my early youth, I have been exploring challenging mathematical concepts, and I aspire to become a professor to inspire young people to discover the beauty of this science and its applications in various fields. My scientific idol is Ada Lovelace, the first female programmer, who has been an inspiration to many through her achievements and her fight against prejudices in education," said Šukarica.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated every year on February 11, aims to promote gender equality in the field of science.
