The University of Montenegro Dedicated to Restructuring PhD Education
First Kick-off meeting, held at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro today, presents commencement of the ERASMUS+ projects within the ‘PhD Studies Reform in Montenegro and Albania, an example of a good practice - MARDS’ project.
The Rector of the UoM, Danilo Nikolic, PhD, held an introductory speech.
Rector emphasized the University strives to achieve a sustainable financing of PhD studies in Montenegro and Albania at national level.
‘The topic of PhD education is significant for our University. We have been committed to restructuring PhD studies in Montenegro for years, taking into account the importance of PhD candidates as crucial participants in development of educated society throughout innovations. The aim is to involve all capacities into one PhD school in order to create program for PhD studies attractive for students, not only in Montenegro, but also in other Western Balkans and EU states’, Nikolic said.
The Head of the National Erasmus+ Office Vanja Drljevic, the representative of the Vienna University, Lucas Zinner, PhD, the representative of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth in Albania, Jeltir Gjergji and Coordinator of the MARDS project, Radovan Stojanovic, PhD held a speech in introductory part of the meeting.
MARDS Coordinator emphasized fundamental aim of the project, alignment of PhD studies in accordance with Salzburg principles and establishment of sustainable and contemporary system of PhD studies between neighboring states, that will be used as an example of a good practice in Western Balkans, i.e. will be used for promotion and establishment of sustainable capacities in the field of PhD studies in these two states.
The Vice-Rector of the UoM, Natasa Kostic, PhD, Predrag Miranovic, PhD, Nedeljko Latinovic, PhD, Bitusikova Alexandra, PhD, Betim Cico, PhD, Michael Vimmer, Milena Jovicevic, PhD, Nikolina Radulovic and Vesna Cavic also spoke at the meeting.
16 partner organizations, involved in the MARDS project also attended the meeting. Next to the UoM, universities from Albania, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Austria were present at the meeting, as well as the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Education of Montenegro, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth from Albania and the Montenegrin and Albanian Chamber of Economy.
