First NASA Space Apps Challenge Hackathon held within FUNK

The creative team AstroNutzz, composed of Nikola Lukić, Predrag Budrak, and Veljko Đurković, has been named the winner of the first edition of the NASA Space Apps Challenge, the largest global hackathon, held on October 5 and 6 at the University of Montenegro as part of the FUNK festival. The University of Montenegro and Montenegro Space Research from Podgorica organized this years hackathon under the theme “The Sun Touches Everything”, which attracted a total of 17 participants divided into 6 teams.

The winning team, AstroNutzz, impressed the judges with their project titled “Seismic Detection Across the Solar System”, earning them a prize of €1,000. The second-place team, Leons Pioneers, won €700 for their project “Chronical Exoplanet Exploration”, and was made up of Andrijana Blečić, Sara Peričić, Nikolina Todorović, and Nikola Miladinović. The third-place team, IvonaiHelena, presented their project “Exosky”, created by Helena Vojvodić and Ivona Božović, and were awarded €400.

The jury included Robert Janković (Five Group), Lidija Milosavljević (University of Montenegro Information Systems Center), Stefan Terzić (BEST student organization), and Predrag Radičević (BEST student organization). The event was supported by Five Group, which provided funding for the winning team, and the BEST student organization.

NASA Space Apps Challenge is a global competition that brings together creative teams from around the world to collaboratively solve global natural and social problems using NASAs data.
