PREVENTIVNA STOMATOLOGIJA I

After finishing one-semester course and passing exam in Preventive Dentistry I, dental student should possess the following learning outcomes : 1. Identifies and explains the biological mechanisms of protection of the oral cavity. 2. Knows and explains the most common etiology, pathophysiology of oral diseases (caries, periodontal disease, oral cancer, orthodontic anomalies , injuries) . 3. Knows and explains the complex interaction of oral and general health as well as a number of common risk factors ( diet, bad habits - smoking, alcohol, drugs, drug use). 4. Knows the diagnosis and procedure for making intraoral mouth-guards. 5.He/she is competent to assume the correct position and using mirror and probe in the review of the patient. 6. He/she is competent to diagnose the presence of soft deposits on the teeth and make them mechanically removed. 7.He/she is competent to diagnose the presence of hard deposits on teeth and master the manual and mechanical removal.
