After the course, students will be able to: understand the foundations of a specific, autonomous legal order that is developing within the framework of the European Union, which regulates the functioning of the European Union, its relationship with the Member States and other entities, its institutional system, as well as a number of other issues of importance for the Union; understand the autonomy of that order and correctly interpret its relationship to international and national law; get to know the sources of EU law, both those that fall into the field of public international law and those enacted by the EU institutions; discuss the EU institutions and their competences, that is, learn the principle of separation of power in the EU, but also the relationship between the EU and the Member States and the division of powers between them; get to know the historical evolution of European integration; understand the basic characteristics, values ​​and goals of the EU; discuss the legal nature of the European Union.
