Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to: • Properly interpret the needs and the role of electric energy, and importance of power systems. • Classify and analyze the different energy sources, their characteristics and possibilities of their use. • Explain and analyze the different methods for estimation and calculation of future needs in electric energy. • Classify and compare the characteristics of different types of plants for the production of electric energy. • Explain and analyze the basic parts and technological processes in various types of power plants. • Describe the impact of different types of power plants to the environment.
