Biography - Bajić-Šestović Jelena

MSc. Jelena Bajić Šestović, dipl.eng.arh., was born in Dubrovnik, year 1983.. She finished elementary school in Herceg Novi where she decided to continue her education signing into high school “Ivan Goran Kovačić”, basic course. After having pristine grades throughout all 4 years of her education she was awarded with diploma “Luča 1“.

Upon leaving high school in 2002 she decides to pursue her future as an architect thus she signed into Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica. She ended her studies with an average grade of 9.24. During her four years of studies she was named the best student of Faculty of Civil Engineering (during the existence of course Architecture). Her thesis, “Urbanistički projekat Sadina u Podgorici”, under the mentorship of professor Aleksandar Keković, was defended with grade “10” in year 2007.

As an advanced university student she starts working in firm “Doding enterijeri”, and after receiving her diploma she was hired in a design bureau “Arhitektonski atelje” in Podgorica, as an architect, co-worker. Starting in year 2008, she becomes a position III advisor in the Ministry of Economic development, department for urbanism and is involved in developing rules for urban planning regulations.

During the same year she starts working in the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica, just as a part-time engagement, but a year after she acquires the position of a teaching assistant on subjects designated for 2nd 3rd and 4th years of studies. 2010 is the year she signs into Master studies at the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica, Department of Urban organization of space. In January of 2014 she defended her (AE SAMA) under the name of “Tipologija otvorenih javnih prostora Herceg-Novog”, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Vladan Đokić.

She has been a part time member of bureau for planning and designing “Inkoplan” in Podgorica since 2011.

Jelena is a winner of December prize of the city of Podgorica for the year of 2004, as the best student of the Faculty for Civil Engineering. She was also awarded on the 13th Salon of urbanism in the category of (AE SAMA) in Banja Luka the same year.

Scope of scientific and professional interest: spatial and urban planning and design, urban phenomenology, urban morphology.
