Biography - Dragović Branislav

Branislav Dragović was born in Bijelo Polje in 1965.

After graduation he was employed as a teacher in the secondary maritime school for two years. At the same time he became teaching assistant at the Maritime Faculty of the University of Montenegro - Division of Maritime Transport. In 2001, 2006 and 2011 he was promoted into Assistant, Associate Professor and Full Professor, respectively. He was a Visiting Professor of the Korea Maritime University (2006-2007), Department of Logistic System Engineering and College of International Studies - Division of Shipping Management.

His topics are maritime transport, operation researches in transport, traffic and travel operations, queueing theory in transport systems, shipping network planning, intermodal freight transport and modeling of container port and terminal operations. He is a member of IAME (International Association of Maritime Economists) and WCTRS (World Conference of Transport Research Society).

He has published over 200 scientific papers in the country and abroad, including more than 170 in international publications and Conference Proceedings, WCTR, IAME, FAST, IFSPA, MTC, PANAM, RaDMI, MHCL, etc. Prof. Dragović was invited lecturer in the country and abroad: Busan National University, Korea Maritime University, Tongmyong University etc. He was chair of Maritime and Port Logistics Session and Transport Systems and Logistics Session at the MHCL International Conference since 2007 to 2017 and RaDMI International Conference since 2009 to 2017, and member of the Scientific Committee of the same Conferences. He presented several invited plenary lectures at international conferences. Since 2004 on IAME Conference in Izmir up to 2018 (Mombasa IAME Conference), he has the 15 published papers in IAME Conference Proceedings, of course new scientific paper published each year.

His papers have been published in journals such as Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering; Transportation Research Part D; Flexible Service and Manufacturing; Maritime Economics & Logistics; Maritime Policy & Management; International Journal of Information and Management Sciences; Yugoslav Journal of Operations Research; Journal of Mechanical Engineering; Mathematical Problems in Engineering; Applied Mathematical Modelling; FME Transactions; among others. He was quoted many times.

He is an active reviewer in several journals such as Flexible Service and Manufacturing; Transportation Research Part A; Transportation Research Part D; EJOR; Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory; Computers & Industrial Engineering; International Journal of Sustainable Transportation; Journal of Environmental Management; Reliability Engineering & System Safety; Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management; International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics; Research in Transportation Business & Management; Maritime Policy & Management; among others. He was a co-editor of Special Issue – Maritime and Port Logistics (Journal of Mechanical Engineering, Vol. 59, No. 9).

He has been a speaker at many well-known International Conferences in the country and abroad: Antwerp, Belgium; Izmir, Turkey; Ischia, Italy; Istanbul, Turkey; Athens, Greece; Limassol, Cyprus; Hamburg, Germany; Seoul, Republic of Korea; Melbourne, Australia; Berkeley, USA; Shanghai, China; Hong Kong, China; Rotterdam, Nederland; Malmo, Sweden; Lisbon, Portugal; Busan, Republic of Korea; Chios, Greece and so on. He has written 6 University Textbooks, 4 National and 2 International Monographs.

He has been project manager and leading researcher of many national projects such as Basic technical-technological parameters optimization for planning and design modern port container terminals – Container terminals in Port of Bar in the XXI century (2000-2002), Determination and optimization of parameters for valorization and development transport systems and tourist destination with their mutual relationship – Case study: Montenegro and its transport and tourist capacity (2005-2007), Investigation of optimal linkage between maritime and land transport systems – Case study: Valorization of Montenegro intermodal potential (2008-2011), and so on. He was project manager and leading researcher of the international project with the title Applying and promoting the concept of sustainable development to AD Marina Bar (2014-2018).

His papers and others publications deal with port operation planning and modeling for more efficient transshipment hub container terminals; Liner shipping network optimization; Port and container terminal planning and design (infrastructure, technical and technological aspect, equipment, container yard); Optimal size and location planning of intermodal terminals and ports; Container market analysis (container park, ships and ports); Economies of scale in container shipping.

He is married, wife Vesna, MSc, Dipl. Ing., son Andro is 20 years old.
