Biography - Nikolić Gojko

Gojko R. Nikolić received his Ph.D. from the University of Montenegro, Study Program for Geographical and Institute for Geography, Nikšić, in the field of mapping and geographic information and physical-geographical disciplines.

He participated as an associate or a mamber of professional teams in the development of more scientific studies and research projects - including international, in which his professional and scientific engagement was focused on solving methodological problems, making the radaction of numerous maps, atlases and topographic And geographic and GIS base from several fields of science: GIS and Digital Cartography, Environmental, Physical Planning and Geoecology.

After graduating I gained various types of professional experience and recommendations at the following institutions:

From 1993-1994 I worked as an intern and then later as an advisor in the Sector for Development of the Minister for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Montenegro.

I have been employed in the capacity of teaching associate in the core Study Programme for Geography (previously grouped together with History) in continuity since the 1995/96 academic year, where I have been engaged as a teaching assistant and teaching associate in several subjects: Basics of Geology, Geology I and II, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Structural Geomorphology, and Land Geography  I achieved the title of teaching assistant, by the regular procedure on 11 October 2000 (Decision No. 01-826).

In the following academic year (2011/12), as well as the previous ones, I was engaged in the following subjects: Geographical Information Systems (GIS) (semester II), Structural Geomorphology (semester III), Geology 1 (semester I), Geology 2 (semester II) and Land Geography (semester III).

In the period 2002/03 I was engaged as the manager of the GIS Sector in the Regional Centre for Underwater Demining (RCUD) (established by the Government of the Republic of Montenegro, with the support of the UN and the US State Department, under the scientific mentorship and monitoring of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Geneva, and the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) Bijela–Herceg Novi (Certificate No. 03-2-1/5-26/02, 17 May 2002; Certificate No. 07-3-1/5-14/02, 18 December  2002).

I received Professional Recommendation No: 05-2-1/5-19/03 (3 August 2005) From the “Gospod Frane J. Zakrajšek” Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia as a GIS Coordinator for Montenegro in the sphere of Humanitarian Demining and Mine Victims Support.

As a GIS expert engaged on the international project Geographical Information System for Mine Action in South-East Europe, I also received from ITF Slovenia an institutional recommendation for working with similar projects. I carried out the scientific project (No. 05/01-3-1456) Modelling the Contents of Geoecological Maps of Montenegro’s Protected Regions, which was financed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Montenegro, Sector for Science

In the period from the 2005/05 academic year until 2010 I was engaged on the Independent Study Programme for Geodesy as a teaching assistant, and later as an assistant lecturer

During the 2011/12 and 2016/17 academic year I was engaged as a GIS expert on two state-level projects which were realised under the auspices of Montenegro’s Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism – the first was the Plan of Integral (Cross-Border) Management of the Bojana/Buna Region, and the second was the Programme of Integral Management of the Coastal Region of Montenegro – CAMP CG  and  HIA Boka Kotorska - UNESCO Heritage Impact Assessment.
