Biography - Popović-Bugarin Vesna

Vesna Popović-Bugarin was born on May 03, 1978. in Podgorica, Montenegro. She finished elementary school and Gymnasium Slobodan Škerović in Podgorica, Montenegro.

Vesna Popović-Bugarin enrolled at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE), University of Montenegro, in 1996, where she graduated in 2001. She received master degree and PhD degree from the University of Montenegro, in 2005 and 2009, respectively.

During her master studies, she spent 40 days (June 8, 2004 - July, 18, 2004) in Geneva, Switzerland, at CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research). During her doctoral studies she spent one month (May/ June 2006) in Brest, France, at ENSIETA-i (École Nationale Supérieure dIngénieurs ) and one month (August 2007)  in Bonn, Germany at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.

Vesna Popović-Bugarin was promoted to a position of assistant professor at the University of Montenegro in June 2010, associate professor in June, 2015, and full professor in June, 2020.

Her research interests are mainly in the area of digital signal processing, time-frequency signal analysis, methods for signal parameters estimation, heuristic methods of optimization, SAR/ISAR imaging, micro-Doppler analysis and data mining. She has published approximately 40 papers, of which 14 in leading international journals and two chapters in monographs published by renowned international publisher. She has been also a reviewer of several scientific journals.

Vesna Popović-Bugarin has been involved in several research projects supported by Montenegrian Ministry of Science and Canadian government (DRDC) and two FP7 projects. She was Deputy Scientific Director of the BIO-ICT, the first Center of excellence in Montenegro (2013-2018). She was vice dean for development and research at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Montenegro (2019-2022).
