Biography - Pralas Jelena

Jelena Pralas graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of Novi Sad. In the same University she also completed her Master Studies in English Literature defending the thesis "Internal and External Exiles - Lives and Novels of Virginia Woolf and Edith Wharton". Since the focus of her interest in research and teaching gradually moved to the field of Translation Studies her PhD thesis - "Translation of Culture-Specific Items in the Fiction by Julian Barnes" - was multidisciplinary (literary studies, cultural studies and translation studies). She attended further training in the field of Translation Studies research in a number of international seminars like Nida School of Translation Studies and Translation Research Summer School, and participated in numerous conferences in prestigious universities. She is actively involved in developing manuals and glossaries in the European integration process and in translation and interpretation in high-level diplomacy, literary and technical translation. She teaches English Literature, English for Specific Purposes in the field of business and law, and translation of technical texts and translation theory.
