Mehmed Đečević

Mehmed Đečević was born in Podgorica, on 11 February 1983.

He completed his primary education in Podgorica, where he also obtained his high school degree from the Gymnasium “Slobodan Škerović”. He then studied psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, and obtained his degree within the prescribed timeframe. Upon returning to Podgorica, he enrolled in a postgraduate programme at the Faculty of Political Sciences (Social Politics and Social Work), which he completed with a master’s thesis exploring the motives of migration of highly qualified professionals from Montenegro. While he was pursuing his master’s degree, he completed his internship at the Psychiatric Clinic of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro. In 2008, Mehmed started working as an associate professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, and in 2010, he enrolled into doctoral studies at the said Faculty. Simultaneously, he was attending education on psychotherapy, which he completed in 2016, and obtained a degree in Gestalt psychotherapy. At the end of 2017, Đečević successfully defended his doctoral thesis, which explores the socio-genetic factors of mental disorders in Montenegro.

Profesional Specialization:

-After six years of education in the field of psychotherapy by gestalt theory and methodology, he got the title of psychotherapist. Education (2010 - 2016) was organized by: Gestalt Psychotherapy Institute Malta.

-Education in the field of counseling and psychotherapy according to the theory of transactional analysis (from 2011 to 2014).

-Education in the field of family systemic psychotherapy (May 2013, February 2015) - topic: genogram; multi-day workshops.

-School of Psychotherapy of Psychoses, u organizaciji Croatian Medical Association, Inter – University Center, Dubrovnik, 14 – 17. may 2008.

-Seminar "Training of Trainers for University Teachers" - University of Niš; 17 - 19 June 2014, Niš, Serbia (within Tempus program).

Lectures abroad:

-One-week stay and a lecture at the University "1 Decembrie 1918" in Alba Iulia, Romania; staying in the summer of 2017 through the "Erasmus +" program.

Projects:

- Member of the team that took part in the project "Research on Child Care in Montenegro" (2010).

- Member of the team that worked on the project "Human rights at the heart of higher education" (a project organized under the Tempus program).

- Member of the team who prepared methodology for the P2P project: Challenging Extremism.

- One of the mentors on the project "Service Learning", which was realized through work with communities. One of the authors of the manual that was printed as a result of this project.
