Biography - Radunović Miroslav

BIOGRAPHY

         He was born in Berane on 4 May 1970 and he attended primary and secondary school there. He graduated from the Medical Faculty in Pristina on 2 February 1996. After graduation he started to work at Primary Health Care Center in Berane, where he did his internship. After that he entered into employment at the Medical Faculty in Pristina in 1997 and since 15 October 1998 he has been working at the position of teaching assistant on the subject Anatomy.

          He started his residency in ophthalmology for the purposes of Clinical Centre of Montenegro with the engagement at the Medical Faculty in Podgorica. Also he completed his residency at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade on 4 April 2007.

          He is a member of the Montenegrin Association of Ophthalmologists and the European Association for Vision and Eye Research (EVER) as well.  Since 2008 he has been an expert witness in field of ophthalmology and he was appointed as chief physician for this field on 25 July 2012. He has been a mentor of ophthalmology residents since 2015.

           He defended the Master thesis »Citohistological and Morphometric Characteristics Cardiomyocytes resulting from Immobilization Stress in Rats« at the Medical Faculty on 25 February 2003 and doctoral thesis »Micromorphological, Histochemical and Immunohistochemical Characteristics of the Optic Nerve in a Man« on 19 June 2008 at the same faculty.

           He also has published over one hundred scientific papers, from which most of them are published in journals, which are found in the reference databases. He has participated in several seminars, conferences, symposia and he is an active participant of workshops in the field of anatomy and ophthalmology in this country and abroad as well. He is a member of the Serbian Anatomical Society, European Federation for Experimental Morphology (EFEM) and International Federation of Association of Anatomists (IFAA).

            He is an author or co-author of five textbooks and co-author of two university textbooks »Marine Medicine and Medical Care« which is intended for students of Maritime Faculty and »Surgery« designed for students of Higher Medical School. Also he is a mentor of more papers at the Medical Faculty in Podgorica, a member of Commission for Selection of Academic Ranks, a member of the National Commission for Development of Transplantation Program and Improvement of Organ Donation in Montenegro and since 2008 he has been at the list of experts for assessment of documentation regarding medicines and medical devices in Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (CALIMS). 

            As an associate-active researcher has participated in five scientific-research projects: 

National:

  • Citohistological and Clinical Research in Vascular Remodeling in Diseases of the Heart and Blood Vessels – 2008-2010.
  • Morphological and Clinical Research of Biological Mechanisms of Vascular Remodeling of Inherited and Acquired Diseases of Blood Vessels – 2012-2015.
  • New methods for risk stratification for progression of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease in patients in Montenegro (DEMOSTRATE) - 04.2019. - 01.04.2021.

Bilateral:

  • Secular trends of anthropometric features, cardio – respiratory stamina and motor skills with children, adolescents, as the basis for planning and programming physical activity – 2019-2020.

International:

  • Retinal and cognitive dysfunction in type 2 diabetes: unraveling the common pathways and identification of patients at risk of dementia (RECOGNISED). Project is implemented through general program for research and innovations – HORIZON – 1.2020. – 31.12.2023.

           He was appointed as Assistant Professor on the subject Anatomy at the Medical Faculty in Podgorica in 2009. Since then he has been engaged as lecturer of Anatomy on several study programs at the University of Montenegro. In June 2014, he was elected as an Associate Professor of Anatomy in the same Faculty. He was the Vice Dean of International Collaboration of the Medical Faculty in Podgorica in two terms (2013-2018),  and since November 2018, he was elected as the Head of study program Medicine. He was elected as a Full Professor in September 2019.  

           He speaks German and has a good knowledge of English. He lives in Podgorica.  He is married and has one child.
