Biography - Rakočević Marina

Marina Rakočević was born on August 18th 1962 in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro. She attended elementary school "Vladislav Sl. Ribnikar" in her home town. After graduation in 1976, she started the high school education at the " Miloje Dobrašinović Gymnasium" in Bijelo Polje with the primary orientation of the studies in the field of mathematics, which she successfully completed in 1980.

Following the successful completion of her secondary education, she entered the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica, University of Montenegro, which was successfully completed in 1985 at the study Module of  Structures.

For outstanding achievement during her studies, she was awarded with the student prize "19. December” in 1981, which was granted on the occasion of celebration of Municipality of Titograd, today’s Podgorica. Master's thesis titled "Comparative analysis for determination of buckling curves of steel beams with geometric and material imperfections ”, under the supervision of Prof. Dr Slavko Rankovic, professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, was successfully defended in March 1996, at the Department of Technical Mechanics and Theory of structures – Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade.

PhD thesis in the field of Technical Mechanics and Theory of Structures, entitled "Static analysis of laminated composite plates using the Finite Element Method", mentored by Prof. Dr Djordje Vuksanovic, professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, was successfully defended in November 2005 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica, Montenegro, after which she gained the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences.

Since 1985, she was employed at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Podgorica as a teaching assistant, and then as an assistant lecturer at the following courses: Statics of structures, Statics of structures I and Statics of structures II.

In July 2006 she was elected to the academic title of Assistant Professor at the courses Statics of Structures I, Statics of structures II and The Finite Element Analysis at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica – Structural Module, as well as at the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica at the study course of Statics of structural systems. In the period from 2006 to 2010, she held lectures in the field of Theory of Plates and Shells at the specialized study module in the field of Civil Engineering, as well as The Theory of Structures at the applied study programme in the field of Management in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica.

In December 2012 she obtained an academic title of Associate Professor, at the study courses Statics of Structures I and Statics of Structures II and The Finite Element Method – Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica. In October 2018 she obtained an academic title of Full Professor for Mechanics and Theory of Structures.

Prior to this day, she was a member of several committees for the defence of bachelor and master's theses, and a mentor for many specialized works in the field of Civil Engineering and the Theory of structures.

In the period from 2010 to 2013, she served at the position of Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica, University of Montenegro.

In the period from 2013 to 2015, she served at the position of Vice Dean for Finance Affairs at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Montenegro.

From January 2011 to August 2016 she was appointed as the Head of the Laboratory for testing of civil engineering materials and structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Podgorica.

In the period between 2013 and 2016 she was a member of the Council for Natural and Technical Sciences of the University of Montenegro.

Since 2015 she is a member of the Court of Honour of the University of Montenegro.

She has been Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering since March 2019.

She uses English and Russian language.
