The promotion of the three-volume monograph History of the Art of Montenegro was held

On Monday 11.12.2023. the promotion of the three-volume monograph History of the Arts of Montenegro was held at the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. The monograph was created as a result of work on a project led by academician Aleksandar Čilikov. Part of the authors team included two researchers from the Institute of History, Dr. Dragana Kujović and Dr. Tatjana Koprivica.

The entire publication covers the period from prehistory to the beginning of the 21st century. Three authors participate in the first volume - the text dedicated to prehistory and antiquity was written by Dr. Čedomir Marković, and the Middle Ages were covered by Dr. Aleksandar Čilikov and Dr. Tatjana Koprivica. The second volume is dedicated to Montenegro in modern times. This chronological framework can be followed in Montenegro from the beginning of the 16th century to the beginning of the second half of the 19th century. The material related to the post-Byzantine culture of Montenegro was prepared by Dr. Aleksandar Čilikov and Prof. Dr. Slobodan Raičević. Dr. Dragana Kujović prepared the text about the oriental-Islamic art that has lasted for half a millennium in Montenegro. The third part came from the pen of Prof. Dr. Saše Brajović and is dedicated to the Renaissance and Baroque in Boka Kotorska. The third volume covers the period from the middle of the 19th century until the restoration of Montenegros independence. The text about Montenegrin architecture from the second half of the 19th century to the end of the 20th century was written by Prof. Dr. Slavica Stamatović-Vučković. The text, which is dedicated to foreign painters and pioneers of Montenegrin fine art, was written by academician Niko Martinović. The text dealing with art between the two wars and the period after the Second World War until today was edited by Ljiljana Zeković. The volume ends with the text "Criminal artistic practice" by Svetlana Racanović.

At the very beginning, the Minister of Culture and Media Dr. Tamara Vujović addressed the attendees. Speaking at the promotion: Academician Aleksandar Čilikov, Dr. Tatjana Koprivica, Ljiljana Zeković, prof. Lazar Pejović, M.Sc., and academician Niko Martinović, as moderator.
