In the period 4-8.07.2022, the director of the Historical Institute of UoM, prof. Dr. Radoslav Raspopović and Dr. Ivan Laković, Deputy Director for Science, visited the Romanian city of Alba Iulia as part of the Erasmus + program, at the Staff training week organized by the University of Alba Iulia. In addition to the delegation from the University of Montenegro, this meeting was attended by the teams of the BURCH International University in Sarajevo, the University of East Sarajevo and Zenica, the Eurasian University from Nur-Sultan (former Astana) in Kazakhstan, as well as a representative of the University of Sofia.

The hosts organized a series of activities aimed at improving cooperation in various domains of university work, in accordance with the individual and group affinities and expertise of the visiting teams. In this sense, special attention is devoted to stimulating joint performance within the consortium for the preparation of project applications, as well as networking and connecting individuals, teams and institutions. A series of workshops, lectures and presentations were held, where professors from the University of Alba Iulia addressed some of the current issues faced by the contemporary academic community, pointing out the approaches and methodology they apply in such cases. Also, the importance of the previous successful cooperation with the University of Montenegro was underlined and the hope for its successful continuation was expressed.

As the delegations of UoM and other universities that attended the meeting in Alba Julia included a significant number of researchers from the field of history, the presentation of that institution, the organization of its study program and the presentation of the results of their research and publishing work was organized at the Faculty of History there. Whether it was monographic editions, a scientific journal or the publication of the works of collaborators in the early stages of their careers, the organized collective effort of colleagues to carry out these activities in a planned, regular manner while maintaining an enviable level of quality was visible. Sharing the experience of dealing with part of that issue in the conditions of the contemporary reality of the humanities in the Western Balkans, the successful realization of these activities and their placement in a sustainable context is, at least in our eyes, an achievement worthy of every compliment.

In the end, the hosts made an effort to present the history of this city, which goes back to ancient times, as well as to point out a number of different activities that are carried out to research, preserve and valorize the cultural heritage of the entire area. This segment of the visit was particularly interesting since Alba Iulia is one of the good examples of how the context of dealing with its cultural heritage has grown into one of the dominant directions of the citys development, especially in terms of its valorization in terms of tourism and economy.
