Faculty Council

The main professional body of the Faculty is the Faculty Council.

The Council consists of:

  1. Dean and Vice-Deans;
  2. full professors, associate professors, and assistant professors of the Faculty;
  3. other academic and professional staff, directly elected by the structure, staff of the Faculty (in the number determined by the University Senate, on the proposal of the Faculty);
  4. student representatives elected by the Student Council at the Faculty (in the number determined by the University Senate, at the proposal of the Faculty Council, which may not be less than 15% of the total number of members of the Council).

Faculty Council:

  • takes care of organizing and implementing programs of study at the Faculty,
  • analyzes the results of teaching, scientific and research work at the Faculty (at least annually)
  • monitors and analyzes the work of students at the Faculty and propose appropriate measures,
  • proposes changes in the structure and content of curricula,
  • proposes new teaching methods in the study programs,
  • harmonizes the views and conclusions of the Students Council,
  • proposes the number of students to enroll in the first year of study,
  • proposes the Dean of the Faculty,
  • elects representatives in the Senate and in the Vocational Chamber of the Senate,
  • proposes members of the Board of the University,
  • proposes teachers to academic titles and associates in professional positions at the Faculty,
  • decides on engagement in the classes, teachers, eminent scientists and associates,
  • decides on the awards to students and employees at the Faculty,
  • implements procedures for registration and defence of master's and doctoral thesis,
  • forms the appropriate committees,
  • leads and determines the publishing activities of the Faculty,
  • gives opinions and proposals to the Dean on all matters relating to the work of the Faculty,
  • proposes the organization of scientific meetings,
  • considers requests of teachers and staff for absence from the Faculty work,
  • ensures the implementation of professional projects from the Faculty’s scope,
  • ensures the implementation of doctoral studies,
  • ensures the implementation of specialized studies,
  • ensures the implementation of post-graduate study programs and implementation of the MSc thesis defence,
  • proposes candidates for the Rector,
  • performs other tasks stipulated by law, Statute and other University acts.

The Council works in sessions, chaired by the Dean, or in his absence the Vice-Dean, appointed by Dean.

Council takes decisions by majority vote of the members entitled to participate in decision-making.

In the process of acquiring the academic title of doctor of science and the appointment of academic titles, the Faculty Council voting rights belongs only to members with academic titles.

The procedure of convening, leading, decision making and other issues related to the sessions and the work of the Faculty Council, shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure, adopted by the Council.

Notes shall be taken about the work at the sessions of the Council.

 

Dean of the Faculty

The managing body of the Faculty is the Dean.

Dean:

  • represents the Faculty,
  • organizes and manages the work of the Faculty,
  • proposes Vice Deans,
  • appoints the heads of the study programs,
  • decides on the use of Faculty funds, in accordance with the financial plan of the Faculty, approved by the Managing Board,
  • ensures efficient, economical and purposeful use of funds allocated to the Faculty by the University, as well as funds acquired by Faculty activities,
  • executes the decisions of the Faculty Council and University bodies,
  • adopts acts in accordance with the law, Statute and other acts of the University,
  • proposes organizational, academic and non-academic structure at the Faculty,
  • gives opinions in the process of jobs systematization at the Faculty,
  • submits a report on its work to the Council of the Faculty,
  • presides over the meetings of the Faculty Council,
  • decide, under the authority of the Rector of the University, on the status of employees at the Faculty,
  • employs staff in accordance with the Law and the Statute of the University,
  • performs other tasks stipulated by law, Statute and other acts of the University or for which he is authorized by the Managing Board of the University or the Rector.

Dean of the Faculty may establish Commission, in order to study certain issues.

The Commission has at least three members. The decision to establish the commission determines tasks, deadlines and other issues of importance to the work of the commission.

Dean signs contracts and perform other legal actions in accordance with the law, Statute and the decisions of the Management Board of the University.

Dean has the authority to independently conclude contracts in the framework of activities of the Faculty whose value does not exceed € 10,000. For contracts whose value exceeds 10,000 €, Dean is obliged to inform the Rector within 7 days from the date of conclusion of the contract. For contracts whose value exceeds the amount of 100,000 € dean is required to obtain the prior consent of the Rector in accordance with the Statute of the University.

Vice Deans of the Faculty

The Faculty has three vice-deans, as follows:

  • Vice Dean for Academic affairs,
  • Vice Dean for Research and Development,
  • Vice Dean for Financial affairs.

Vice Dean is appointed by Rector of the University, at the proposal of the dean, for a period of 3 years, and it can be reappointed once.

The Vice Dean shall be appointed among persons with academic degree at the Faculty.

Vice Dean:

  • organizes, coordinates and runs the business in a particular area for which it is appointed,
  • replaces the Dean in his absence,
  • performs other duties assigned by the dean.
