Development of Fishing Tourism Important for Montenegro: All Social Actors for Preservation of Protected Sea Area

Round table on topic of connecting tourism and fishing and preservation and joint management in protected areas in the sea was organized by the Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Montenegro and the FAO AdriaMed project "Support for pilot actions of the blue transformation in Montenegro", on January 30th, 2023.

 The round table was attended by relevant institutions, i.e. representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management - Directorate for Fisheries, Ministry of Ecology - Directorate for Environmental Protection, Environmental Protection Agency, Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, PC Morskog dobra, TO Bar, NGO Green Home and, of course, representatives of the Association of Professional Fishermen on the Sea of ​​Montenegro. We especially emphasize participation and contribution of colleagues from science, the fishing sector and businessmen of the Republic of Croatia and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Nicoletta Milone said hello to attendees via video link, on behalf of FAO AdriaMed Project wishing them a successful work of the Round table.

We believe that heard from colleagues from Croatia will be a solid starting point in conversations and negotiations in the forthcoming period.  

One part of discussion was dedicated to protected areas in the sea. After presentation about management models and future monitoring within, there were questions and suggestions.
