The Institute of Marine Biology Organizes the II National Meeting of the "SHAREMED" Project

As part of the project "SHAREMED - Exchange and improvement of capabilities for solving environmental threats in the Mediterranean Sea", the Institute of Marine Biology, University of Montenegro, is organizing the 2nd national meeting with the aim of informing the general public about the implemented activities and the obtained results. During the meeting, it is planned to present the implemented activities within each work package, as well as the presentation of the end products, i.e. tools that were created as a result of activities. The SHAREMED project is a strategic project that is mostly financed by the Interreg MED program within PANORAMED. The ultimate goal of this project is to increase the ability of Mediterranean regional, sub-regional and local authorities, as well as the research community to jointly assess and resolve pollution-related hazards and environmental threats in the Mediterranean Sea. The need to assess and address the growing presence of co-existing threats to the environment, spreading in space and time and across political boundaries, requires transnational coordinated actions based on shared information and shared evidence-based interventions. As the project was mostly implemented during the period of the COVID 19 pandemic, there were certain difficulties in the implementation of the planned activities, which will also be presented to the participants of the meeting. The planned discussion should provide guidelines for future actions in the area of marine ecosystem protection at the Mediterranean level. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in online format. It will bring together representatives of the institutional and professional community, which have a marine ecosystem in their field of activity - the Institute of Marine Biology, the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Public Enterprise for the Management of Marine Assets, the Administration for Inspection Affairs and local coastal municipal self-governments.
