The Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro organized online lectures in English on the topic "Demystifying China"

The lecture was given by Professor Li Hongliang, associate professor of the University of Electronic Sciences and Technology of China and Chinese language teacher at the Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro, specializing in international teaching of the Chinese language and intercultural communication.
During the lecture, Professor Lee talked about the four main beliefs that foreigners associate with China. The first is related to the widely known issue of family planning in China. They talked about the development of family planning policy and how that policy has changed throughout history. Those present could hear how China decided to follow the principle of "advancing with the times", which led to a change in family planning decisions from one child to three children, which began to be implemented in 2021.
What the professor particularly referred to was the food in China. Through a short video, we had the opportunity to see that most families in China treat animals well, although there is a theory that they like to consume dog meat. Regional differences in staple foods were also discussed.
Those present had the opportunity to dispel the belief that writing Chinese characters is so difficult, so at the lecture they learned how to write Chinese characters correctly and convinced themselves that they are not difficult to master. The Chinese believe that each character has its own meaning based on who it was created from.
The last aspect of the lecture was devoted to the cultural segment related to behavior in restaurants. He pointed out the similarity with Montenegro, where one person pays the bill.
Professor Lee concluded that although we are faced with various misunderstandings we must be open and mutually learn from each other. Only in this way can we understand and respect mutual differences and build a bridge of friendship between two cultures and countries.
