Learning outcomes:

Upon completion of the study programme/the students will be able to:

  • Plan and analyse sea maritime voyage analysing and using navigational charts and instruction books, meteorological reports, navigational information and warnings;
  • Assess distress situations, use lifesaving equipment and apply technics of survival at sea;
  • Analyse mistakes and reliability of navigational and other ship systems, plan voyage and manage ship in all conditions applying methods of optimizing maritime voyage;
  • Keep safe navigational watch and use all navigational, metrological, communication and other bridge equipment;
  • Differentiate between cargoes and technologies in maritime transport and plan adequate techniques of cargo and individually assess important elements of ship stability;
  • Interpret and critically judge the elements of maritime international and national legal framework (protection of life at sea and marine environment);
  • Manage ship crew and groups of people, properly act in emergency situations;
  • Explain and interpret basics of business performance in shipping;
  • Organize procedures of maintenance of ship and ship systems;
  • Know and use specific maritime-related terminology in the English language,
  • Control, supervise, maintain and manage technical systems in maritime economy and nautical tourism;
  • Plan maritime and transportation activities in all contents of maritime shipping (tanker, bulk, container, Ro-Ro and Ferry, Cruise Shipping, transportation of cars by sea, transportation of perishable goods, an, LNG Supply Chain;
  • Organize and model maritime and transport systems;
  • Plan and model maritime-container process in the light of integration to European transport measures and corridors;
  • Plan and develop systems of marinas, ports for smaller vehicles and nautical tourism;
  • Contribute to maritime and transport, intermodal, logistic and nautical valorisation of adjacent countries, primarily in Montenegro.
