FLUID Design Forum 12/2024 "Sustainable Optimism" from April 19th to April 24th, 2024

The twelfth annual FLUID Design Forum will take place from April 19th to 24th in Cetinje. The forum will gather renowned designers, architects, and professionals from various fields, along with numerous students from the country and the region who will participate in a program composed of lectures, workshops, and exhibitions. As with all previous editions, the FLUID Design Forum has a thematic framework that defines the content of the program, guiding it towards connecting professional design practices with the public interest of the community. This years edition, under the theme "Sustainable Optimism," explores how optimism in design can help find answers to the complex challenges of contemporary society, how it can contribute to solutions, and potentially hinder efforts to address social problems.

The opening of the Forum is scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2024, at noon, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, with the inauguration of the exhibition of last years FLUID Awards 2023 winners - Ivana Velimirović, Amina Alić, and Ana Ivanović, as well as the poster exhibition "Sustainable Optimism". The opening will also see the presentation of this years regional awards for young designers at FLUID. Following the program, Karl Stoker, a lecturer and researcher in culture and design from Austria, will give a lecture: "UNESCO CREATIVE CITIES - DESIGN: What Cetinje Can Learn from Detroit, Wuhan, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, Valencia, or Graz." At 2 PM, at the Cultural Center of the Capital Cetinje, the exhibition "National Space Program" by the Ilustress collective, consisting of Denis Ćupić, Ivana Vujošević, Jovana Mugoša, Radovan Vukasović, Sara Kovačević, and Srđa Dragović, will open.

The afternoon session on the first day will be opened by introductory lectures from Prof. Lazar Pejović from the Faculty of Fine Arts Cetinje and Ivan Đorđević, an anthropologist, senior research associate at the Ethnographic Institute SANU from Belgrade.

The first day of FLUID will conclude with a guided tour through the exhibition "Adriatic: Five Sketches for Tomorrow" by authors Oleg Šuran and Ivica Mitrović from Split, which will open at 8 PM on the fourth floor of the Montenegrin Art Gallery "Miodrag Dado Đurić."

The FLUID Design Forum program will continue over the weekend with a series of lectures, presentations, and panels.

The realization of the festival involves the Faculty of Fine Arts Cetinje, NGO FLUX, and MAS Trade Ltd, as well as partner institutions: Faculty of Architecture Podgorica, National Museum of Montenegro, Cultural Center of the Capital Cetinje, and others.
