Biography - Kočan Enis

Enis Kocan was born in 1979 in Berane, where he finished elementary school and high school. He is the holder of the diploma Luca for great success in elementary and high school, and was awarded as the best student of generation in Gymnasium in Berane. By defending thesis on "DSL technologies" in June 2003, he finished the studies at Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica. During the study, he was the beneficiary of scholarship for talented students of the Municipality of Berane. After graduation, he was engaged as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) in Podgorica, and he enrolled in MSc studies in the field of telecommunications. He defended master's thesis entitled "Influence of frequency offset on the performance of the OFDM space-time diversity system" on 29.09.2005. He enrolled doctoral studies in September 2007, also the FEE in Podgorica. He defended PhD thesis entitled "Solutions for performance improvement of OFDM relay system through subcarrier permutation" on 29.01.2011. A part of his doctoral research Enis has conducted at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

 
As a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Enis has been engaged in a number of courses in academic studies, all in the field of telecommunications, including: Basics of analogue telecommunications, Basics of digital telecommunications, Mobile radiocommunications, Digital telecommunication systems and Optical communications. In June 2014 he became assistant professor of Radiocommunications and Radioengineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, as well as of Maritime Telecommunications at the Maritime Faculty in Kotor. In June 2019, he has been elected to the position of associate professor at the University of Montenegro, for the area of Telecommunications at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Area of ​​scientific and research interest Enis Kočan include mobile radio communications systems, solutions for beyond 5G networks, IoT communication solutions, cooperative communication systems, solutions for exposure reduction in the wireless communication systems, maritime communication systems and so on. Enis is an author of 80 scientific papers published in international journals (10 papers published in journals from SCIE list), at international and regional conferences, including the work awarded with the "Best Paper Award" at the International Conference WPMC 2013 in Atlantic City, USA. In addition, Enis is a co-author of a technical book published in English by an international publisher, River Publishers. He is a reviewer in 13 international scientific journals, including the most prestigious magazines in the field of telecommunications, signal processing and computer sciences, such as the IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Communication Letters, IEEE Wireless Communication Letters, IEEE Access, Digital Signal Processing (Elsevier), Wireless Personal Communications (Springer), IEICE Transactions on Communications, etc.

Enis has participated, and still participates in the realization of a number of international projects (5 H2020 projects, 4 FP7 projects, 4 COST actions, SCOPES, UNESCO project, etc.), as the leader of one of the work packages he was involved in the project of the first Center of Excellence in Montenegro (BIO-ICT), then 4 projects of bilateral scientific cooperation, as well as two national scientific research projects. During the work on international projects, as a researcher, he stayed at a number of universities across Europe (EPFL in Lausanne, Technical University of Vienna, University of Aalborg, University of Ghent, etc.).

He participated in the realization of a large number of technical projects in the field of telecommunications, studies and surveys for the industry, governmental bodies and agencies. He participated in the development of more than 60 studies on the impact of radiation from base stations on the environment. He is the deputy head of the laboratory certified for the measurement of electromagnetic emissions. As a member of the team, he participated in the measurements at more than 100 locations, as well as in the preparation of the Reports on levels of electromagnetic radiations.

In the period 2015 - 2017, Enis Kocan was a member of the Council for Scientific Research Activity of Montenegro, as well as the representative of Montenegro in the H2020 Program Committee for the ERC-FET-MSCA. Till 2019, he was a member of the Center for Young Scientist of Montenegrin Academy of Science and Arts. Since September 2019, he is a vice-dean for finance at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
