BIOGRAPHY 

Professor Duško Bjelica, PhD is a full professor at the University of Montenegro in the field of sport science. He was born in Podgorica in 1963 where he finished elementary school and high school – department Physical education. He graduated from Teaching Faculty, Department of Physical Education, at the University,, Veljko Vlahovic ", after which he obtained degree in Physical education and Senior football coach degree at the Faculty of Physical Education, University of Novi Sad. He got a Master Degree at the Faculty of Physical Education University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius "in Skopje, while a PhD degree in the field of physical education he gained at the Faculty of Physical Education, University of Belgrade in 2003.

Professor Bjelica was a president and a member in the Council for Sports of the Government of Montenegro. He was also a member of the Council for Higher Education of Montenegro. Currently he is a President of the Governing Board of the University of Montenegro.

Since 2005 he has been working at the University of Montenegro, Faculty of Philosophy in Niksic, where he previously worked as a teaching assistant, and he was the head of the study programs: Physical culture, Sports coaches and Sports journalists. Senate’s Decision in 2005, appointed him as assistant professor of the same university and Senat in 2010 appointed him as associate professor. He is appointed full professor since January 2015.

Professor Bjelica was a member of the Commission for the establishment of the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro and the President of the Commission for Writing the Study on establishing the same. It is on the list of international experts for accreditation of higher education institutions and the establishment of study programs. He was twice elected to be the dean of the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education, University of Montenegro. He is a member of the Senate, University of Montenegro. He is a member of the board for doctoral studies. As a university professor he held lectures at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, University of Belgrade, Mostar, Tuzla and Sarajevo.

Professor Bjelica was an active footballer and football coach. Also, for more than 12 years, he was a correspondent for JSL Sport from Belgrade for Montenegro, where he published about 2350 articles. He cooperated as pupil and as a student, with Pobjeda, Titograd tribina, Karate Ring. He was a member of Presidency and a member of the Assembly of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee. He is a President of the Sports Federation Montenegrosport from Podgorica, and he was also the Head of the Montenegrosport School football from Podgorica He is the editor of the international journal Montenegrin Journal of Sports Science and Medicine. He is the editor of the journal Sport Mont. In two terms he was a member of the Assembly of the Football Association of Yugoslavia. For many years he was the Secretary of the football federation of Montenegro. He is one of the founders of the international Open fun football schools in Montenegro, with headquarters in Denmark (Copenhagen). He was awarded by the Sports Committee Juan Antonio Smaran in Barcelona in 2007.

He was proclaimed as the best sports worker in Podgorica and the best pedagogue of Physical Education in Niksic, and from Faculty of Sport and Physical Education in Sarajevo and Novi Sad he was awarded for scientific contribution of international importance. He has been rewarded several times by the Association of Sports Journalists of Montenegro. He has participated in many international scientific congresses and conferences where he had several plenary presentations that were published. He is the President of the Montenegrin sports academy in Podgorica, professional and scientific sports organization He is a President of the International Scientific Conference MSA.

Professor Bjelica so far as the author and co-author published more than 400 papers in international journals and conferences, and 65 books – international, scientific and professional monographs and textbooks.
