Aims | Understanding of basic physics concepts and theories that frame our knowledge of the material world. Acquisition of physical concepts from the fields of mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, optics, atomic physics and nuclear physics in the function of understanding natural phenomena and methods applicable in restoration and conservation. The aim of the course is for students to learn to independently solve numerical tasks and problems and interpret the results of interdisciplinary research. |
Learning outcomes | After completing the exam, students will be able to - list and describe defined and measuring units that appear in mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, electromagnetism - define and explain basic phenomena and laws from the mentioned areas - explain the basic characteristics of atoms and nuclei - explain terms in photometry - explain the basics of laser operation and the application of lasers in restoration. - understand the degradation processes through which materials undergo aging - understand dating mechanisms and modern materials and techniques - learn the main techniques for studying cultural heritage and archaeology - assess the applicability of analytical methodologies (dating, microscopy, spectroscopy, etc.) to the study of different classes of cultural heritage or archaeological objects |
